Hi,
Thanks for my previous response. I am on H1B and between projects. I have an offer to work for a couple of days for a company other than the one holding my H1B. They said they are not gonna report to the IRS as its an hourly job for 2 days and the number of hours are not going to accumulate enough for the IRS. But they need my SSN or tax-payer ID to run their payroll. I am gonna receive my dues as a simple check (like a rebate check with just the total amount showing up & NOT a paystub). Please let me know if I can work for them or not.

Hello Friends,
My AP is expired on December 9th 2008. I would like to renew my AP. Could you please provide the details on how to renew my AP? or Does it come as a new process instead of renewal?
Thanks
It is indeed considered a renewal. And it costs something like $350.
You might want to check www.uscis.gov for further information.

... Our name is on the lease together here in MA but will we be penalized for living separately when he is away at school?...
Penalize in what sense?
If your marriage is a true marriage, then there will be no problem with respect to immigration even if you do not live at the same place.

She has the F1 stamped on the passport which is valid until Dec 2009 I think. She is finishing much before that. Does it mean she will not be able to reenter on either F1 visa or the EAD?

Folks;
My bro is trying to schedule appointment at Calgary, AB consulate for visitor visa thru nvars.com. And it says their are no appointments for month of Sept., and Oct. When he tries to look in Nov., system says you can only schedule appointments upto 8 weeks only.
I guess is this what you have also expereienced lately in similar situation?

It is not an issue for people of Indian origin who are returning, of planning to return, back to India for whatever reason. They are the lucky (?) ones to have either a Indian passport or PIO card or OCI card so they are eligible to work on that basis.
But how about those who do not qualify for one of the above? There is an increasing number of foreigners working in India - how do they become eligible to work in India? Is there an equivalent of an H1B, or may be oneday GC & Citizenship?
http://wikitravel.org/en/India
Foreigners need a work permit to be employed in India. A work permit is granted if an application is made to the local Indian embassy along with proof of potential employment and supporting documents. There are many expatriates working in India, mostly for multinational Fortune 1000 firms. India has always had an expatriate community of reasonable size, and there are many avenues for finding employment, including popular job hunting websites like monster.com!
There are many volunteer opportunities around the country including teaching. India has a reasonable presence of foreign Christian missionaries, who for the most part form the non-local religious workers, since the other major religions of the world either grew out of India or have had a long term presence.
A living can be made in the traveler scenes by providing some kind of service such as baking Western cakes, tattooing or massage.

Since USCIS is done with all I-485 cases, should they not allow filing of I-485 when PD is not current? Or at least they should allow filing I-485 for the people who's I-140 is approved and PD is not current.
Should IV core take this up as next high priority admin fix item with USCIS?

YES! EAD is your license to work for any company, even for those not sponsoring you. It doesn't matter if your i140 is approved or not, you can work with EAD and that is legal.
