I had started this thread some time back. And I thought to return back and update you guys what happened.
I called up the USCIS and changed the address about 4 days back.
They changed the address and immediately sent the 485 reciept notice to the new address. I recieved it today. Not sure if there was already notice being sent to my previous address and returned back to them.
But on the reciept notice mail it mentioned that they got this change of address notice and are sending the 485 reciept to the new address.
So finally it ended up that I got my reciept notice before my travel. I am relaxed now.
Lesson:
Update USCIS as soon as you change the address.

I have an approved EB3 I140 ( PD 10/2002 ) and an approved EB2 I140 ( PD 04/2007 ) but my attorney has been having trouble getting the EB33 priority date on to EB2. My EB3 petition is with Texas Service Center. Both of my petitions are from same employer.
Has anyone had any success with Texas Service Center for this kind of request recently?

as far as previous employer has not revolved / canceled i140, and Priority date for i140 is backlogged, you can get 3 yr extension on h1b using previous employer's i140. if any of these does not satisfy, you do not get 3 yr ext. using old company i140.

Its probably a planned leak by the Obama Administration to the press to placate the hispanic lobby. Just chill... nothing's gonna happen.
Most likely....they are trying to play both side of the vote politics. That way they can say we tried earnestly but didn't happen because of republican opposition.
On the other hand they can avoid annoying center and independent voters.

What are you drinking, I think it's you who has to watch out. And how rude of you to tell someone else to think before they type, especially the administrator of the site. It looks to me like he did think before he typed all that and it makes perfect sense. When I open the sheet, it shows some randomly typed alphabets on each row, and the status says gcwaitlist is modifying the content. Am I viewing the right document? :)

I though there is already an option where you could apply in PERM requesting transfer of the non-perm application to PERM (as against a new PERM application). That way you can keep the old PD.

Hi ,
I got deported from Chicago when I was travelling back from India because I worked at a gas station with out authorization . I had to admit that I worked and I was deported back by flight same evening . They gave me the ticket .
My visa is cancelled and I was told to go back to consulate and get a new visa .
I want to come back and complete my studies as I have only 1 semester left . Please help what what should I do now .

If you were registered for the full credit required (I believe 9) then you are permitted to work for atleast 20 hours. I dont specifically know about gas station but students work on campus at the library, cafateria, other departments etc. Maybe gas station is considered off campus? Not sure about legality of that.

Hello everyone,
Here is my status..someone please clarify as my immigration attorney has different answers each time
1) I am on H1B status and recently transfered to a new H1B Employer and i got query last week.
2) My Husband is holding a L1B Visa and its valid till Nov 2011.
3) Can i apply for L2 now(without COS) while waiting for H1B Approval?? This will allow me to change to L2 if something happens to H1.
4) If i have my H1B approval i wish to stay and work on H1B.if not i will be moving to L2(leave the country and comeback ??)
Please post your prompt answers.

So what exactly is meant by this switching? How/What does it affect? Where or how you/company/USICS decide whether you are on H1 or EAD?

But in case of switching from H1b to EAD (while working for H1b/GC sponsoring employer), there is no termination, changes in the employee�s eligibility or change in job duties. So no requirement to cancel H1b.
