My DL is going to be expired in Nov and I have H1 stamped till Jan 08. I received EAD till Sep 08. I am planning to go to DMV to renew the DL. I will be carrying EAD and Passport (with H1b stamp). Please note that I have not applied H1B extn so far. I have following questions:
1) Will I get my DL extended till Jan 08 (based on H1b) or Sep 08 (based on EAD)?
2) If they extend DL based on EAD, will I loose H1 status as I used EAD?
3) I live in VA, can someone pls share his/her experience in this regard ?

How reliable is this Tracker(or any) data? I don't think all the registered people who gets their GC would come back and change the status of their application to 'Approved' in the Tracker. Though its better than nothing but still data is too vague to derive any real conclusion.

But if the dates are current for you, can you just not reapply for 485 ?

The term permanent does not mean forever; after you apply AC21 and inform USCIS regarding your intent to change employer you can stop worrying about working for the gc sponsored employer.
But if you stick with your gc sponsored employer till you get your green card; then you cannot use AC21. It is not clear as to how long you need to work for the gc sponsored employer. Most of the lawyers say 1 year is a good time to change employer after getting gc but there is no law binding on such things.

As long as you never out of status from the last time you reenter US (Aug 97) you should be OK and should submit your I485

If you look at few months back, when supporters of illegal immigrantion did the rally, they wanted CIR to be passed.
1) Is there a bill in congress, that we are supporting? If so, please share the details.
2) Are we proposing a new bill? If so, is it not wise to propose a bill ASAP before rally? Law-makers are going to ask, what do you guyz want? Are there any benchmarks for rally? Having a solution (a bill) in hand will help to represent and to join more people for rally.
Law-makers may not understand, if we just say, expedite our GC applications. They understand bills.
As mentioned before, I have good faith in IV & attending rally. So, people dont drag around it.

It does not matter once you get your green card. Those restrictions are till you get the green card. For now, she has no restrictions. But as the person earlier pointed out if she applies for your gc, it will take 5 years if she is just green card holder but it will only take 6 months to a year, if she is a citizen.
Now, if you both decide to live outside of US, then you need to look into what are the residency requirements for her to keep her green card status. If that is of interest to you.
