We all know that IV is not Indian. More Indian!=All Indian. Lets not worry about it and most importantly I request IV members from all countries to ignore it as a reporter mistake as they script stories in their fashion to elicit more coverage. It is almost impossible to edit the story that has been distributed by Reuters/AP. Once its gone, its out of their hands.

...is getting approved. My case is with an IO since Aug 3 and going by the trend, I should have received an update by now (within 2 weeks of getting assigned to the IO). Not sure whats going on :( This is the worst ever wait in my life. Wonder when its going to end???

Having filed mine and spouse's AOS in May, honestly everyone these are not hard to file yourselves. If your employer is paying for the lawyer then great, but why not devote a couple hours and do it yourself, cut the lawyer out of the loop. I am sure we have all had bad experiences with lawyers, and heard about many others the chances are you will do a far better job since this really matters to you, you are just another number to the law office.

Also, take a point to note that after August 2007, the overall volume has decreased drastically. Economy was good from Sept. 2007 to Aug. 2008, but still countries who were current, did not file as amany EB1s and EB2s compared to previous years.
Also, another point to note is that government came out with this data at this moment, because this will instill a ray of hope in every EB individual on their future prospects due to reduced filing from Sept. 2008 onwards.
If, the government came out with the same data, one year back, we would be VERY depresssed, won't we?
So, there is a ray of light at the end of the tunnel.
All the calculations are based on the following assumptions
a)Number of EB2(ROW) Labor approval from PERM would be in the range of thousands, say maximum 5000.
The reasons are

b) Spillover to EB2 would benefit india more than China.
But even if 50% of pending PERM are cleared this year then the # of EB2 would be more.
So every EB2 should pray that the PERM system should work in the same pace for next 1 year.

I am not sure that even simple letters get thru. Neither Mr. Cannon nor Mr. Hooton responded to my letters. Mr. Cannon, however, responded to the inquiry sent from President's office. His reply was brief. Rest assured, he wrote, your name check will be completed before the next eon :)

I dont think there is any issue with the way CIS allocates Visa. They clearly have specific definition and reservation when it comes to VISA categories. If you look in that aspect, EB1 comes first then EB2 and EB3. But this is very specific to VISA Category and does not mean the individuals. So If some one, who qualifies for EB2, but for some reason, he applies for Visa under EB3, it is not the fault of the system, it is the fault of the Individual. This includes me, since Iam May 2003, EB3-I. I do qualify for EB2. So I cant crib. If i want, I can change company and file EB2, for which I think, I am qualified or not apply under EB3 knowing the consequences until I find some one who can file my GC in EB2. When I file my GC under EB3, then in true terms, Iam degrading my self and i should face the consequences. Does it not make sense. So, I suggest work towards the immigration bill and try to make calls to get HR.5882 passed, Otherwise, I dont see any future for EB3. May be EB2 is better than EB3 in true definition, but that does not mean EB2 folks are better in anyway than EB3 folks. Hope u all agree.

i dont think the country makes a big difference, i have two friends stuck in name check (one was born in canada with an english first and last name). i think its the combination of the name, DOB and a crappy system

I plan to talk to my lawyer today. My past experience is that lawyers don't give all the options themselves. You have to know what options you have and then they will give advice on that.
So if anybody has gone through similar situation, please give your inputs. I am sure many other people can benefit from this information.

It's always a good practice to take a receipt notice of any action done by your lawyer & keep that for your records.
When you apply for EAD, soon USCIS will ask you to do fingerprints(BIO-2). I think you missed that part and it might be denied or void as it was left for so long!
You can file for new EAD online at https://efiling.uscis.dhs.gov/efile/InteractionMgr?interactionmgr.interaction=SetupEfo rms×tamp=1127234762990
Create your account & you can file your self with out lawyer's assistance. It's always suggested to file EAD(I-765) & AP(I-131) jointly. You can pay by credit card.
(1) After applying online, you will receive 'Receipt notices' of EAD & AP.
(2) Now a days USCIS will set up an apointment for BIO-2 of EAD.
(3) You have to send supportive documents for Advance Parole, like photos,brief explanation of qualifying for AP...I can give you those sample formats !

You must add I-485,EAD,AP & I-140 receipt numbers like LINXXXX and you will get emails when they get approved. You can also see the changes on 'LAST UPDATED' column, which means your case is touched by an officer. But it's not the confirmation of approval until status message has changed or you got an email.
Go thru these 2 links & familiarize well. Hope your I-140 has approved. Finally these are suggestions only & I am not a lawyer. Consult an immigration lawyer if you have uncanny issues.

I personally haven't seen any issues with Call quality. Infact Call quality is excellent.
I agree about taxes. This is general understanding. However with my teleblend (formerly sunrocket) the taxes were only around $2 at the same address where I stay now. With vonage its $6.32 -- I have no idea why vonage taxes are almost 3 times to teleblend for almost equal price plans at the same address?

Good discussion. I am not a fox fan, but i read NYT and Drudgereport, listen to Rachel Maddaw as well as Handel. In fact i read any political and economics related blog i can lay my hands on. I understand your points.
My point is that people say he will do so many things, the problem is that the congress is not changing. The congress has to approve something so that he can sign it. Secondly no matter what you say companies will do whatever is right for the bottomline and share price. if he starts taxing companies they relocate, he has proposed increasing the social security taxes across all categories. Says he will not increase taxes for middle class americans but gives little indication of how he will finance the trillion dollar spending program. If his universal health program passes then you will see more deducted out of your paycheck. How will he create tons of jobs, how will he subsidize education. The fact of the matter is that he will be under exterme pressure if he is elected to office with such high expectations. He will be screwed if he increases taxes and screwed if he doesnt fund the programs he is promising all over the place.
As for long term, the country has to increase interest rates to support the current account deficit. IF you increase interest rates the economy will further go in the tank. The country has to increase taxes to fund SS or Medicare. If not they need to overhaul the SS and MC system and any pandering politican will never be able to make that change.
The fact of the matter is that both are career politicians and will do anyting to win. i just want to present an opposing view when one is painted as the saviour and the other a @$#@ in a total crapfest where no one is pure.

Well, whether a merchandise can be returned after using, depands on the nature of the merchandise and the level of customer service provided by the seller.
If you are buying a TV or a home theater, you don't know if it is functioning properly until you use it. And returning it within stipulated "return period" is not only legal but also ethical.
Some high-end sellers will even guarantee customer satisfaction by allowing a return any time, yes any time if the customer is not fully satisfied with their product. There is nothing unethical about this. That is why these high-end stores charge you a premium in the first place.
Not allowing return of merchandise reflects the low level of customer service we used to get back home. Obviously that level of service expectaion has been engrained in us so much that we believe returning used merchandise, even when the customer is not satisfied, is unethical.
Your option? Stay put! Keep paying your montly obligations! Or sell now if you want, and take the 20G hit.
Foreclosing when you are not in a financial stress in NOT an option. Get it?
Now that you have your option, go learn how to be a grown up!
