Pending clearance on rumors, if POE called employer, it is likely that employer(s) may answer about US Citzen hiring to yes, but it is very "generic". The "generic" information my be mis using by POE either intentional or unintentional . It is better off giving heads up to company HR department about these enquiries (if they are not rumors) and brainstrom them about procedure and time lines to hire US citizen and impact on business if non immigration is not available immediately. Otherwise, employer may say yes to hire US citizen "in general".

USCIS and Consulates submitted a list of Documentarily Qualified applicants to DOS on July 8th. The latest PD of the applicants on that list was before 01-June therefore they have set the PD at 01-June-2006.
What is documentarily qualified?
This part is self-explanatory. It seems that USCIS made a list of all the applicants to Jul 08 by setting PD to Jun 01, 2006.
Documentarily Qualified might possibly imply:
.. Medically OK
.. FP and Name Check OK
.. Everything in application is consistent (e.g. DOB, Name, Kids, Spouse)
.. Requires No RFE
.. Requires no interview
.. Just requires GC (Visa) Number

Most times, desi employer looks for himself in these cases. These jobs are not obtained by stringent interview processes. Consulting companies and candidates kinda use each other to legally get into the system.
While someone wants to do h1b for their wife, the only way seems to be conssulting companies or MS - OPT - job.
When people have the luxury of approaching consulting companies to do h1b for wives and nephews etc... they must also be ready for crap. Will someone approach Microsoft for doing h1b for wife??
We all know it is not easy to geta job if you don't have good US experiencee and such candidates are a challenge to get placed, thats why consulting companies request u to pay payroll taxes so that they can legally run payroll and keep u on rolls till u get placed.
It is totally upto a person whether they want to deal with this or not.

My friend I have seen many things in my 45 years life. But never have I seen as much bullshit in one post. If you are so smart that your invention could lose $3 billion in a quarter, why are you unemployed for last 1 yr? If you don’t have a job it has got to be someone else’s fault, right? This is not a new trend. While you are ok to work in a company started by an immigrant or in a technology created by an immigrant, you find it morally wrong for immigrants to compete with you, right? As if immigrants should be denied to right to compete with “real Americans”. And this “real American” thing is so full of it. You are real American because your forefathers came here in 1700? Take the body shoppers and glorified body shoppers like TCS, wipro, infy etc out of the equation and you would have sheer wastage of H1B numbers since the American companies will not go abroad to recruit someone who is unfamiliar with US work culture.
That is why congress came up with 20K quota for master degree holders who can be recruited directly by US corporations. In my opinion, US corporations should not complain at all since they were never interested in upholding the true spirit of H1B by recruiting people from abroad directly.

what should we ask them for if we call, 'coz they might not have entered our file in their system yet.
Is it possible to ask them if they have the file with them and ask them to do a name check on the applications or some kind of relevant information related to the application. i am sure they should have put the files some where with some easy to identify tags. can some one call the uscis, i am planning to do with the nexy 40 min as that is when it is 8 here in the pacific coast :-)

This is MUCH worse than Dot-Com bubble, As Dot-Com bubble was just for IT industry, this financial sector, Housing Sector, Insurence Sector. And obviously IT as IT is service industry for all these.

most of the Cherry Blossom related rush will be only on weekends. April 4th and 5th falls on weekday so we have to face traffic and rush related to weekday. Also, 4th is Monday which is little less traffic (no to great extend though) due some federal people gets deferred workday. But for sure Tuesday (April 5th ) will be super rush day, all we need to do is plan to get in after morning rush hour and get out before/after evening rush hour.
Just wanted to make sure that the organizers are aware that the 4/4 and 4/5 dates will fall in the middle of Cherry Blossom Festival in DC and specifically in and around the national mall. Travel and stay could get little expensive. Just wanted to make sure that this gets on to the radar. On the more positive note, lots of IV members will get a chance to visit DC during the most beautiful time of the year. Will attend anyways and will spread the word.

Unless there is a concrete effort just for EB3-I, Nothing is going to happen. It's just unfortunate that we are just a subset who are affected. In reality everyone else gets a GC in 5-6 years..

I agree with the above !! an idea is like a spark ..once one media picks this up others will follow and you never know what it leads to. opposing an idea is Worse than doing nothing. BTW the way things are going ...GC may soon lose its grand appeal (it will still be in huge demand though ). the following article is a must read - if you have few minutes to spare --written by prominent economist. maybe a worst case scenario --but as scary as a horror movie
