Well even if you use AP, you need a passport, dont you? And the passport must be with the Consulate pending stamping. So one way to get the passport back is to withdraw the visa application.
A question though: is'nt it abandoning your H1B1 visa tenure if you enter on AP even with a valid H1B remaining?

I got the I-485 approval/welcome notice from USCIS for myself and my spouse today. But the wierd thing is that my NSC online status still shows RFE response received and case pending (from 2008)...the welcome notice says I should expect to receive the card in 3 weeks...guess I am greened.
Anyone else face a similar situation?

Having filed mine and spouse's AOS in May, honestly everyone these are not hard to file yourselves. If your employer is paying for the lawyer then great, but why not devote a couple hours and do it yourself, cut the lawyer out of the loop. I am sure we have all had bad experiences with lawyers, and heard about many others the chances are you will do a far better job since this really matters to you, you are just another number to the law office.

Contributed $100 to IV - Receipt ID: 0122-2698-8222-7402 (have contributed in the past as well).
To folks waiting for the magic email...hang in there....your time will definitely come. In the meantime, do all you can to ensure that USCIS closes out your case (such as SR, emails, congressman, etc.). In my case, the first four working days of August were very difficult...as it's very hard to sit around and not do anything. I did open an SR by calling USCIS on the 5th, but I am not sure if it mattered since we received the magic email the very next day.

I did mean later not earlier! It would yield you your GC! Most GC approved this month so far has gone to people with PD 2006. One of those is possibly yours!

THe reason USCIS is showing low numbers for the reason that , no one will then raise the question for recpature. Looking at the numbers they will say, O, the numbers are so low, whats the need for recapture and we will be left hanging cold and dry.
This is a plot of a well planned strategy.
Something is screwed up.....
Mexico has over 2000 cases in April 2001 yet its PD is May 1st 2001
India has less 500 cases in April 2001 yet its PD is Apr 15 2001
This along with CIS giving "bad/incorrect" data to IV is indication of someone's malicious intentions.
I appreciate IV's effort in getting FOIA executed and now working on aftermath of it.

If clerk is doing this as per instruction means, we are being noticed and that is precisely what we wanted anyways. I don�t think USCIS higher ups have any malicious intent. Whole issue may be due to lack of training of IOs.

In my opinion, as they are running with these immigration related bills despite the tight schedule and limited time they have on their hands before they go on recess (for election), the chances (to pass these bills) have to be decently high. Otherwise, I doubt if they would put so much time and effort if they know for sure this would fail.
However, as Pappu pointed out, the success relies a lot on we guys calling everyone on the list to seek their support and counter numberusa or similar groups' attempt to shoot these bills down.

The first step is to complain to the govt. Maybe if there are lot of complaints, govt will investigate and find the dirt, and fix it.
Another idea is to bring it to the attention of the job boards that discriminatory ads should not be posted. Lets give this a try.
To those effected, write to the govt if you are in a situation where you can.

L1 Blanket visa, from the a very reputed company, Jan 16th interview, visa was approved (i.e. no 221g), no information from Consulate, no idea as to what is delaying the stamping.

USCIS should be providing all basic information on cases on case status area of the website. This would reduce number of calls to USCIS and reduce such posts where each conversation with an IO generates some information and misinformation on forums. This feeds to rumors and incorrect information circulated on forums. While such information helps generate lot of threads, page views and ad revenue for other websites, As an organization we should be cautioning people about this.
On the donor forum we have posted some tips what you can do get your greencard. There is no need to make calls everyday trying to get status. If your application is outside processing time, you can simply open a service request. There are other options like Ombudsman and local Congressman's office. We have also posted to our members that if if you have tried all options everywhere and you are in a desperate situation, Immigration voice will help its continued donor members.
In my opinion posts such as "storage area, exam area, and where your file is, pre-approved" only drive curiosity and mass calls that will not help processing of your case. We as an educated and mature community should not fall for such information on the forums.

I am about to leave my employer and I want to withdraw my set (with wife derivative). Can you please help me with the procedure? And is it safe to leave the employer without effecting the other set where my wife is primary applicant and me as derivative.

I personally do not travel through a country that are biased and requires a transit visa for specific countries only. If you think about it, most of the international flights are full of us, Indians. If everybody (including Indians with GCs, that do not require a transit visa) start boycotting such airlines/country transits, then they will have to change this policy.
As I said before, I am never going to fly thru UK, even though I sill have a transit visa valid till Nov 2008. I can still feel the pain.
