I am a dependent of my husband's process - my PD is now current, is it possible to switch and have an I-485 application where I am the primary applicant and he is the dependent, so we do not depend on his company anymore?
I do not want to take anyone's else opportunity by getting another A#, just want to know if there is a way to switch the roles.

Hi I am not exactly in similar situation but still relevant in the context. I have labor and I-140 cleared but my wife is working in India and she may not be able to come back in order to file I-485 within a month or two. If I file I-485 for myself can I file for her later? What will be the consequences and what are the timelines? I have a valid H1 Extension till May 2010. Can she still get this extension stamped and return on H4 visa?

The last month of the fiscal year is generally much much better. I doubt approvals for Oct will be anywhere near that.....especially since it is the first month and they will go slow...and November visa availability will be an eye opener.....not much hope....

We want him to stop wasting visa numbers, and to provide more transparency and communication in how VB dates are set. We want them to provide a clean honest answer of what USCIS did in June to exhaust the visa numbers and the motiviation behind doing that.

Forget about it impacting desi companies, do you know how many companies will be impacted if the "no contracting" clause is retained in the H1B/L1 bill. It essentially means that no company can "purchase" the services of another company and use a H1B worker to work on the project at it's site. We are talking about biggies like IBM Consulting (where about 10% of it's workforce is on H1B) , Oracle consulting etc. who's clients depend on the expertise of the techies to help their teams by working with them onsite.
Oracle and IBM are rich by software support and consulting services, not just by their product lines.
Do business working on non-govt or non-defense apps care whether their contractor is on H1B or not? No they care about 2 things 1. Price 2. Can the contractor help get their system working?
It's pretty obvious that neither of these senators have any business experience.

Ok...the way I see this is 5000min/month at $25 (not adding taxes) is 5 cents a minutes...that is more than what I pay for my calling cards....bottom line....if your monthly calling bill is less than $ 25 there is no reason why you should get Vonage.

For my wife, status is like this.
Decision
On August 18, 2010, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. I came across a couple who got their H1B approvals last yr with in 3 weeks to each other. One of them was in PIMS and other one not. So I feel approval date does not seem to be a criteria to base these delays upon.:confused:

So basically he is saying that count your blessings and thank god that you are stuck in Backlog centers or in retrogression because in Europe, its even worse. Its a nice way of saying : "It is what it is, take it or go to Europe or go back to India".

Not so. There are no quota caps for spouses of US citizens, hence no retrogression.

EB3 india gets only 2803 per year with350 of those going to OW. How did you arrive at the figure.
