I belive ultimately all the big phone service providers like Reliance, Airtel and Tata will reduce the calling rates to match/beat VOIP providers like Vonage.
This will be the saving grace to keep down the telephone expenses.

Let us start the groundwork by brainstorming.
Few sample topics:
Calling individual congress-persons / senators / local journalists.
Writing to the above as well as to the white house (a petition en masse maybe?)
Collecting funds targeted for this purpose ('Will need an estimate)
IV core - pls - we need your inputs..
I agree, This another big and very important thing that IV core can be challenged. IV core needs to bring an action item for this. People pour your support for this as well...I believe we definitely see positive contributions for this effort.

I think all the folks who visit this thread must send out a complaint.
Also please contact your attorneys and tell them to complain on this half baked PIMS implementation.
My wife received her approval email from Mumbai consulate yesterday. When I contacted my attorney, he asked that after she returns to the US, to send him more details and he will lodge a complaint with the DOS through his liaison.

You are correct I missed that it can act as a very good buffer if I go by my extrapolated inventory which also factors in PWMB and if the May VB news actually materializes then yes Jul - Aug 2007 will be very easily crossed.

My piece of advice -
I see that a lot of people are not happy about L1 visa holders replacing them or their collegues because the sponsering company is either not following the law or found a loophole.
It is natural to get angry and frustrated. But I would suggest - not to be insensitive to those people as it is not their fault. Treat them well and good and help them understand what it is and why are you concerned.
Do a proper assessemt on what exactly the issue is and definitely help ourselves to make sure fraud is not being committed.

Nothing will happen. The dates will be retrogresses on Monday. May be we will see 'U' in Visa Bulletin. The AILA will try to pursue DOS and USICS but they will politely say "sorry for the trouble" This will lead to the law suit. Some people will submit their resignation. In the next year you will see those at some higher post somewhere.

Now coming on to freebies,What benefit does IV provide to past contributors.I have contributed in the past, have been active at the initial stages,have spent my own money and booked airtickets to meet senators.Been a leader in a state chapter.But later realised that it was not worth for this forum which has partitions among so called donors.
Why the heck does any one want to see in a home page about posts on a donor forum.Just hide it and keep it among yourself and discuss .
Now red may follow,and a possible ban.

To know the reason for that you simply have to see past visa bulletins to know how long 2001-March 2004 PD's have been current... the answer is: for a long time in late 2007 and mid-late 2008.

I received a response from the ombudsman. I am not sure if our issue is properly understood by his office. When we write about AC21 issues, the response talks about I-140 delays. Gurus, please help me understand the contents of the response below:

I appreciate your comments regarding I-140 processing at the Service Centers. We are well aware of the processing delays at all of the Service Centers and the AC21 issues created by these delays. USCIS has taken steps to address the processing delays, but their efforts have not come about swiftly. We have received several inquiries such as yours and are very concerned. We are currently discussing these issues with USCIS and continuing to review their policies and procedures concerning these petitions. Hopefully we will soon be able to help USCIS with a recommendation to address the I-140 delays and AC21 problems.
Generally, we do not accept case problems presented by emails. Under the authority of the Homeland Security Act of 2002, the CIS Ombudsman assists individuals and employers who experience specific problems during the USCIS benefits seeking process, largely to identify problems and to formulate recommendations to improve the USCIS service. I'm not sure whether USCIS ever *appologized* per say but the second paragraph from the link above supports my earlier argument that the new spill-over policy (which in my personal opinion is more rational) is not a random, ad hoc decision by USCIS but rather a careful one after consulting congress etc.

It seems some of the members who interviewed with the media got carried away with "Gandhigiri" and all things Indian. It sounds ironic, we are craving attention from Indian media while trying to become Permanent residents of USA.

Please do not form conclusions about members who have interviewed. You might ask me how do I know it? Well, I am one of the guys who interviewed and explained everything about IV. The sound bite/theme of this campaign flower protest has its origins in Gandhigiri, which most of the media knows now. Thats how reporters tend to script it in their own ways and associate things based on history. You have to try to envisage how things work. If not, you can try doing an interview and see if "What you say is what is you see", even though facts are not misrepresented 100%
I am positive there are more interviews coming down tomorrow after the Rueters story popped up. I welcome all non-Indian IV members to step up and grab this oppurtunity to not only prove that IV has world wide members, but also can put their native country into picture so that IV can be more diverse.

These are very tough and partisian bills (immigration bills). This also being an election year, some lawmakers will try to puch their own agenda. Don't expect a featherbed solution. This will be a dogfight.
This time atleast there will be some democrats to vote for our bill, unless the anti guys find some way of preventing them from participating in it.

To let you all know,
There is no contract to change the plans. I just spoke to Vonage customer service. She clearly explained me about the contract requirements. In fact there is no commitment for the new users also. The 1-year contract which shows on the website is for the Phone Adapter. They only charge for the phone adapter if you discontinue your service before 1 year. No strings for the existing customers.
