    Lou Dobbs, Leprosy, and Immigrants
In "Truth, Fiction and Lou Dobbs" by DAVID LEONHARDT writes about the latest controversy about Lou Dobb's "reporting" on immigration that came to light on a 60 Minutes segment profiling Dobbs a few weeks ago. According to Leonhardt,

a 60 Minutes producer came across a 2005 news report from Mr. Dobbss CNN program on contagious diseases. In the report, one of Mr. Dobbss correspondents said there had been 7,000 cases of leprosy in this country over the previous three years, far more than in the past. When Lesley Stahl of 60 Minutes sat down to interview Mr. Dobbs on camera, she mentioned the report and told him that there didnt seem to be much evidence for it. Well, I can tell you this, he replied. If we reported it, its a fact.

The truth is that the evidence behind the statement is jist not there. The Southern Poverty Law Center later took out advertisements in The New York Times and USA Today demanding that CNN run a correction.

For more of the story, click here. How can a reputable international media outlet like CNN put up with such shoddy reporting on one of the most pressing social issues of our generation?

Just Now, I received a call from congresswomen staff. She was able to get some standard response from NSC via congrees inquiry cell at NSC[she read for me]. Still 26000 application are pending NSC prior to July 17th filer. I asked again and again same question, How they can enter data for Aug first week before July 2nd. What about FIFO? She was repeating again and again what response she got from USCIS. I was able to get I-765 # from her. I asked her how come 765 (LIN#) is possible without 485 data[she don't understand inter-dependency of application]. Stange but something is better than nothing. I will write again for FIFO. I don't want USCIS actions go unnoticed. I will do my part.

I am happy congresswomen staff did some inquiry. I will post when i received copy of USCIS official reponse to congresswomen by post/email.

    Recieved physical cards today.

    CPO - Aug 6th
    Post decision - August 13th
Approval recieved in snail mail - August 11th
    Cards recieved - August 18th

Thus the GC journey of 9 years and 8 months ends. Currently no difference in life it makes. May be when i travel GC may be of more help. (no AP H1B stuff to worry about)

Good luck to all who are current and to all who are waiting. Hang in there. You will definitely get it.

Tell them little more about ur degrees, achievements, personality and physical appearance too. May be they get impressed and recommend to their father...;)

Well, if you end up too impressive then you may no longer need EB green cards ;)

is mentally sick. I am an EB2 and I think this is the sickest idea I have ever heard. What the f@#k is your problem, are you paranoid that you are going to loose your job real soon, why do you need a GC sooner, how is it going to change your sorry life. Dude just concentrate on your work and family; don't try to be a hero for no f#%k'n cause!

USCIS has to work in FIFO process not RIRO(Random In Random Out)... So they can't send Receipt Notice to Aug 17th filer and then look for July 2nd filer. I sent my concern to congressmen?
    :)

I fully agree that USCIS should work FIFO, but "should" does not make that happen. Clearly USCIS is not equipped for FIFI when truck loads of applications arrive. We may complain now, but I believe we should give them additional 10 days they need (to make it 90 days). I am equally worried about my July 2 filing. Nevertheless, I wish and hope the congressman's intervention helps.

It is simply crazy of USCIS, but it is not beyond commonsense for us to realize that the notice was mailed in last few hours of the previous FY, so there might have been those hiccups between USCIS and DoS systems releasing the last few visa numbers.

Understand that you might well be current for this FY but the notice was generated in September. So now you should do your best to make sure your file is not relegated under a big heap somewhere... as others so rightly suggest, the congressperson route should serve well.

I recieved 2 notices in mail today.

One is the welcome notices which says that I-485 is approved.
Another notice which says that they reviewing or reconsidering the decision previously taken.

Called 1-800 # and the infopass. They say that reopened or reconsidering the case as the visa numbers retrogressed.

How can that be when am current in oct as well.

Mine is EB2 and the priority date is Dec 2004.

Any suggestions to have this fixed.

    Hi

I have a question regarding g28 , did u file this form when you did it yourself ..

can an attorney file g28 later on if there is a RFE , who else can file g28

I don't think you need to fill it yourself. But, for the second question, someone with experience in dealing with RFEs should enlighten.

I just called CS of Vonage and asked them about 5k minute limit. They just laughed as I was not the first one to ask. They said for residential Vonage world plan there is no limit. those 5k applies to business . So rest assured and call India without any fear or limit. Unlimited !
    So I am happy.

The 5000 minute limit is phrased as "consistent with residential use" term in the Terms and Conditions. CS is often clueless.

For more details - look at the chat transcript I posted in the fatwallet forums Chat Tanscript - Look at the 8th post in this page (http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/946947/?start=120).

Or - even better - look at the original Terms and Conditions (http://www.vonage.com/tos/#SERVICE). The relevant section is section 5.4, named "Inconsistent with Normal Use".

    Hi,

Both, me and my wife have approved I-140 through two seperate consulting companies.

Can we apply for I-485 individually and add the other as dependant at the same time?

    Thanks

The more than half million highly-skilled legal immigrants already working productively in the United States find themselves trapped in a system that is taking years longer than intended.

It should read as, "There are more than half million highly-skilled legal immigrants already working productively in the United States who find themselves trapped in a system that is taking years longer than intended.
