If someone port their EB3 i-485 to EB2, say somebody who's PD is in 2002.
Does his Visa number go waste or it will be re-used for another case.
this is with presumption that the cases are pre-adjudicated
Visa number is considered used only when I-485 is approved or immigrant visa is approved at US consulate.
Visa number is NOT allocated if I-485 is pre-adjudicated. Pre-adjudicated means that application can be approved but due to lack of visa number it must wait.

Money never, never comes last, IMHO. Money does have its place right beside grass root efforts. Any one who undermines either of them at any time is making a huge mistake.
I am scratching my head to figure out how IV benefits with non paying members? If you say that by being a member of IV, we have done the honors, I have no answer for you. If you say that we all boast about being a 15K member org, You can pass on me. Are you a proponent of "I dont care how IV benefits from me, All that I care for is if I got my question answered or not " thought process? As long as we see IV only as a forum and compare with other forums, we will never see the invaluable difference. while eulogizing the founders, also try to see what they would like us to do. I am positive they would love more contributions than a simple eulogy so that we can enable ourselves with more ammo. Thanks for the undeserved pat. I will be happy if people take a moment and introspect their stand on this issue.

It may / may not come back in 2009, who knows. Now we have the 485 filing crisis. You said we have 15000 members. How many of these are actually affected by the current crisis?? I can tell about one person, myself, certainly I am not affected directly. Now if lets say 20% are affected that would be 3000, right? Do you know how many people applied for 485 this time, it certainly is in the 100K or much more numbers. Now if we start being very critical of the few here (approx 3000), who have not contributed, we are making a mistake. I may be completely wrong on these numericals. Lets hope everybody contributes (if IV actually needs fund urgently). Atleast regarding the present crisis we are fortunate the AILF is taking up the case for FREE. People who want to contribute can through IV or even directly. I dont think contribution is going to make a difference here. This is not a lobbying effort involving the pattonbog, this is a legal case in which we are just joining.

May ask you why you joined this organization if you say that only sick people are frustrated with the delay in GC. By that logic all of us are sick people! I think your comment was made in bad taste and crticizes all the hard work this organization and its members are doing.

Just a question out of curiosity....why would someone choose 'taliban' as a login handle, knowing fully well the kind of unneccessary negative attention one can get. From July-07 fiasco DOS and USICS work very closely on VB, I am referring to USCI and DOS. And USCIS is the one who influence DOS decision.

It's true that Europe can be a tough place, as can Canada or the U.S. to a newcomer. What is true about Europe is that it is a socialist place, salaries are lower, taxes are higher, racism is stronger, houses are smaller, yet you are also surrounded by beautiful places and there is a lot to do and see. It depends what type of person you are. Some Europeans hate Europe themselves and want to come to the U.S. as much or more than you did when you immigrated here. I'd say Europe is a good Plan B if all else fails here in America for you, and then you can always go back to India or China if you didn't like Europe.
Hopefully we don't need to get sucked in by the Reverse Brain Drain and we can help Congress help us, by changing the law, and retaining the high-skilled legal immigrants like us who are suffering and stuck in backlogs, and which is the only fair thing to do!

I totally agree we need money to run this website and I also agree that we Desis never pay for quality and never ever for service.
Guess it is time to change. Make it a paid website and only Members should be allowed to post queries etc. Putting advertisments on the site too is not a bad idea and I think we work some thing out.

Only 300 odd people sent flowers to the USCIS and we know it worked. This site has a lot of one time visitors so don't expect 25000 votes, but it does not mean this idea is crappy. Heck, I want to buy a house myself, but I cannot even think about borrowing 300k+ when I may be asked to leave the country on a day's notice (remember no time between jobs when you are on H1B).

We face problems of backlogs, and career uncertainty. IV is offering a solution, if implemented, it will bring relief to all. IV needs your help to deliver what you and I "NEED" AND "WANT".
HELP IV HELP YOU.
We need heavy participation on the lobby days, I need volunteers from different states to ask me "How can I help?" instead, I am trying to find volunteers! I have been able to persuade members who have received GCs to help out, but getting members who are still in the mess are either unaware of the advocacy days (in spite of the thread running on the home page for the past month) or are not ready to talk to the employers to take the two days off. Capitol Hill runs on weekdays and therefore it is necessary for you to take the time off.
Come on guys, you can do better than this. Donors, members, guests - we are all in this together!
VA/MD/DC members, please come forward to host members from out of town. Help them to reduce costs!
Members who have accumulated airmiles, please come forward to donate them.
Members living in neighboring states to DC (or at least at a driving distance) find friends/members to car pool with you to the event.
Members who have unavoidable situations at work or home and cannot participate, help fellow members to bear the costs, please donate to their trip. They are willing to take the time off, and will be representing you and your state. Why not help them?
If you decide that you will support this effort, you will find a way to help. Anything else is just an excuse! Sorry, to say this, but that is just a fact!

In my opinion, IV must help people who sincerely and genuinely want to help themselves and not waste time doing social service to a selfish section of the crowd. I suggest that IV become a profit organization and let people keep ranting and discussing their stuff if they are willing to pay for the services and fun. IV does not have to spend time and money and effort and stress out trying to ask selfish people to help themselves.

Damn, I miss India now.
We went to Marriage of my classmate which was in Srinagar J&K. Police caught us in on the road and we did not have any kind of identification. We started to talk in Kannada with ourselves. This guy let us go by seeing us talking some south Indian language. It happens everywhere. If you are going within 100 mile range from the border it is better to carry the documents. If you are flaying you got carry. I stayed in Buffalo NY for a quite long time I never carried a passport for Niagara falls or to any other places.

Till we spend our time in predictions and tracking, till the time we stop jumping the gun in calling for lawsuits, till the time we stop interpreting the INA to find a smoking gun, till the time we stop calling names for USCIS and DOS, till the time we stop blaming 245(i), till the time we stop engaging in eb2 v/s eb3 fight, till the time we stop fighting with each other over irrelevant things, till the time we stop creating these stupid polls, till the time we stop engaging in "number crunching" whatever that means, until that time there is ZERO hope for Eb3-I. I guess this simply the demand supply equation. I might in realty be the other way with regards to the number of EB-3 approvals. I remember reading that EB-3 India got quite a few visas in June and July of this year. I dont remember the exact numbers but I am sure they exceeded the 7% per country limit. Anyone remember the exact number of approvals for EB-3 India

I was under the impression that 10 - 15 days gap or 1 month gap can be justified as vacation or sick leave as long as "employer - employee " relations exists (not terminated by the employer). One whole year cannot be justified under this.

I went to a wine shop and was shocked to see cartoon of Ganesha used on the bottle of India Pale Beer. I am not a religious person but this thing made me nervous. Please let me know how this can be protested.

Hence, I came up with a list after going through the three forms individually. Please help me correct it by changing wrong info/ adding any ommisions on my part.

� Birth Certificate
� Copy of page with nonimmigrant visa
� Photos � 2 nos.
� Write A# or name with a pencil on the back of the photos
� Finger Printing (this is done after the I-485 is filed)
� Medical Exam Form (I-693)
� Form G-325A (this does not have a check list)

Look mirage, I want to help in anyway I can, and I know your intensions are good, but good intensions and mere frustartion arenot enough to produce the desired results. The effort has to timed well. Bush had good intensions, atleast thats what he said, but the outcome was not how everyone desired. I am telling you, conserve your energy for the right time, don't lose steam and willingness to do something about the issue, but do not waste your energy. Use it wisely. Although, I must say that I have witnessed a lot of gurus in these forums. Sometimes I see them logged in, but they do not always post. The best way to teach them a lesson and make them ineffective is to simply prove their points are clear blatant lies and put their credibility under question.
We should create a webfax through IV to senators and legislators that reveals their lies and hits them in their core, and let the senators know that believing in these type of immigration-KKK type of organizations will put their credibility among the general public in question and is very badly detrimental to their future.
