Can you please help me with this?...I have already submitted the affidavit copy and now they want it from Registrar office. Has any one got it from registrar office in India? if so, how difficult it is and what is the procedure?
"A photocopy of a birth certificate issued by the Local Registrar if the person named above was born in a city, or
A photocopy of a birth certificate issued by the Additional District Registrars office if the person named above was born in a village.
If a birth certificate does not list the names of both mother and father, or the child, secondary evidence must be submitted to establish parentage. Secondary evidence includes, but is not limited to , copies of: medical records, school records, census records, government-issues identity cards, religious records and/or affidavits from at least TWO persons alive at the time of birth. The oldest available evidence that lists the names of both parents should be submitted."
Thank you!
Instead of wasting time of forums, just ask your Dad/Mom/Uncle to approach the nearest Taluk office / District Registrar's office, there are tons of agents sitting outside to provide information and even get the work done.
You can use certain documents to get it properly registered and get a valid birth certificate, if your old ones does not have names.
But, the above mentioned work requires some "serious efforts of a local person" by hitting several doors within a week time, forums in internet won't help you.
Since you don't have enough time, I would not recommend to go thru any "internet" based agencies for this work.
If you have to 'pay' for the valid & legal certificate, go for it. But any illegal document(even if you are not aware of it) will just screw up your GC processing in US.

Most of us are not eligible to vote in the Nov elections , so PLEASE STOP CAMPAIGNING for Obama unless u have something to say worthwhile abt immigration etc
i'm not campaigning for obama...... simply trying to set the record straight.....
the title of this thread implies that obama is not doing admin fix.... its not always about the campaign & votes, sometimes its about the truth and the truth is that republicans leaked the draft admin memo and wrote letters to oppose admin fix.... but now everyone here is blaming obama..... i'm simply defending the absent.....
most people pass judgments based on incomplete or incorrect headlines...... i'm merely saying that there is more to the news than just the headlines.... & this is related to immigration.... unless u think that the only valid immigration question is - when will i get my gc......

a recapture helps everone by moving the line forward and making dates current. there is also a parallel effort on to bring changes like 485 filing without PD being current. so no one ie being left behind or ignored. these efforts will help all of us affected by retrogression and stuck in different stages.
If IV can help this (apply for I-485 without having current PD) proceed in anyway, I would be so happy. I got married 2 years ago, my wife is a finance professional, an employer in US applied a H1b for her, ended up getting rejected in the lottery.
I had just (during the open I485 time frame) then switched employers and my employer filed for labor which never got cleared in time (actually still isnt cleared - random Audit).
So my wife and me are shuttling between India and US to even meet each other.
Have been in US for 9 (with 2 masters and 5 years working) years now, still no way of finding a visa for my wife to work.
I work for one of the big Biotech guys and kind of like my job, otherwise working in India along with the wife looks very intriguing

I'm not sure about H1 after using AP. Make sure with others.
Yup, I had checked this because even I thought entering on AP invalidates H-1B, but he said that's not the case. In fact, my company still renews H-1B for my colleagues who have used AP to reenter.
Has anyone heard otherwise from a lawyer?
Thanks,
Jayant

When I look at my PD, I feel I am going to have some US citizen grand sons/daughters too. Anti-immigration groups call this "Anchor Child".

Does anybody recall an old TV serial in India named 'Appu aur Pappu' about a boy and his elephant?! :D
Looks like the long GC wait is turning me into a crazy person if I start recalling such old serials! :(
I feel nice to have found my appu on this forum!!:D

Rongha_2000,
I tried a preliminary hand at mining the FLC databases. Realized though that another factor missing is EB category. Given all the other variables we have, I think we may not gain much from the exercise.
Here's my analysis:
Total number of LC / country: Known
EB category: Unknown
Number of dependents per LC: Unknown
Number of Duplicate LC: Unknown
Number of LC Subs: Unknown
Number of people approved: Unknown, but we can guess as you suggested
Number of people abandoned the process: Unknown
Given so many unknowns, does not look like we will gain much from this analysis. What do you think?

will you believe official instructions from USCIS or advice from one of us with half knowledge.
We (including me) have tendency to find easy path which causes trouble most of the time.
Enjoy your GC..
Peace
No I did not. Because my attorney did not ask me to do so. But, after I got my GC, they emailed me some instructions on what to do and what not to do. In that list they had this instruction to carry my GC with me all the time in BOLD.
So I got concerned and posted this which has resulted in a lot of hating and loathing. I am not understanding why is this my fault.

I think you can get a letter from employer stating that they can not employ you any more. I am not sure if they issue a letter to every person that loses the job. Just make sure that your intention to work with the sponsering employer is documented somehow .
I have an idea here ... just write an email to your boss or HR stating "how good company has been to you and how they helped you with your immigration process and given a choice you would rather work with the same company"
Take a printout of all these emails and save them if you still have a chance. You can use all these to prove if you run into any problems during the naturalization process.
Apart from these things collect the news paper clips or company wide emails that talk about downsizing. These things should help you to prove your intentions if there is a query about your intentions at the time of naturalization.
If you think company will survive for 5 or 10 more years , just keep in touch with your HR
I got a letter saying they can not give me my job back dated 5 days after my approval.
I show up told them I was approved, they say sorry we have not sold anything on those 3 months, we are doing bad, cannot take you back.
They dont have any problems with it and I can wait 10 years to become a citizen if that is what it takes.

I believe my situation is a lot similar to man-woman-and-gc except maybe that I am single. This is what I have achieved so far after sticking to Company A for 4.5 years (this one was pretty big in size; so didn't have to worry about any paperwork):
1) I-140 approved in August 2008 (total of 198 days till date i.e. March 5th 2009)
2) I-485 pending since July 2007 (USCIS receipt date of September 29 2007)
3) EAD valid till October 2010
4) H1-B valid till October 2010
5) PD: Feb 2007
However as a preemptive measure against any potential layoff from company A, I have started looking around. I am preparing a checklist of things that I have to inform the other companies (say company B) so that the transition is smooth. The 2 main things I can think of to talk about with any potential employer are:
1) I DEFINITELY want to maintain my H1-B; so they will have to transfer it. I will be pushing this to make sure I have the flexibility to get a dependent at any time
2) They will have to help me MAINTAIN my GC process. For example any minor changes in the position requirements to show that the job is similar or same. Thats one reason I am primarily looking at similar work profiles
I would GREATLY appreciate if someone from this thread can point me to any location or list out the things that I should be extremely careful about or notify to both my previous employer and the future employer to avoid any future pains in my GC process. A few things that I remember are as follows, but please provide more information that may be missed out here:
1) Do I have to ask Company B to apply for anything relating to my GC? I want to make sure that they know and agree to all costs associated with the paperwork? Dont want to end up paying from my pocket as I have heard in a few cases before
2) I believe since my I-140 is approved for more than 180 days or actually my I-485 being filed for more than 180 days, I am allowed to move, correct?
3) Since my I-140 is approved and I have an EAD, can USCIS/Company A cause it to be revoked? OR it doesn't apply to my case?
4) Do I need to ask Company A to maintain anything? Or just keeping good relations with them is enough :)
Thanks a lot to everyone in advance. Please let me know at your earliest convenience as you never know when opportunities come knocking at your door. Its better to be prepared ;)

Man, you are so crazy about opening so many threads for the same topic. You cannot force people to send letters. And by this time those who wants to send letters had already sent to WH and IV. Give us some break. I come to IV site to get some information on immigration issues and what I get are 'n' numbers of threads for same issue. ---- ADMIN FIX.......
These are the active threads I found on the front. Let put our energy on different things and get move to other issue, other than sending letters. If you want to be moderator or something else in IV contact PAPPU directly.

Just to piss u off, i am requesting again to all the folks to send letters.

I guess PO should be fine. I am sure your attorney will also include a letter explaining the situation as well right?
Which service center did you apply for H1 Extension? NSC?
H1 extension was applied in CSC. Yes my attorney should be able to help with a letter. But I'm weighing in options as to what can be done to avoid my H1 extension as I can use EAD.

You need to know what is your current job & duties mentioned in the Labor certification if you want to change the job with AC21. Otherwise you dont need the LC. But its good idea to have all the docs with you.
