Hello,
I have a question regarding my employment & H1B.
I was working for company "A" and my project ended in Jan and the company "A" gave me 1 month to find employment.
So I have applied for H1B transfer last week with company "B"
I got a call today from company "A" offering me a job.
Is it possible for me to work with company "A", while my application for H1B transfer is pending?
I want to join company "B" when H1B transfer is approved but in the meantime can I work for company "A" because it is very hard to find a job in this economic situation
Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

it is not easy as you think. Once you have this non renewable/non transferable stamp on the license you are stuck. For eg:- even if you stay in the state that issues that lisence (in this case Ohio), you will have to retake the whole test (computer + driving test) to even renew the lisense when your visa is renewed. You initially get the lisence only valid until the day of your visa expiry.
bottom line:: THIS IS THE CRAZIEST RULE THAT I HAVE COME ACCROSS. The more a person drives I was under the impression that her/his skills improve. I am not against checking the visa validity etc but to make you take the whole drivers test again is SIMPLY STUPIDITY.

I think H1B quota should be decreased because lots of people available with no jobs in the market, it looks like survival of fittest, even person with good skill set not getting job immediately due to new new consulting company coming into market doing irregular things like less rates etc etc�����. to survive themselves.

With the threat of a lawsuit of a massive lawsuit, USCIS felt the heat needed to motivate them and the fact that the suit was about to be filed surely contributed to USCIS' quick reversal of course. AILF is playing an increasingly vital role in the pro-immigration community giving us the ability to stand up for immigrants in the courts - often the only place many problems can be resolved.
Finally, a new voice - Immigration Voice - emerged to do what has never been effectively done in the past - organize the grassroots employment immigrant community. IV's Flower Campaign and its San Jose protest were firsts and garnered the attention of the nation's media and managed to humanize what for many was a dry technical issue. IV was also extremely effective at conveying news to its members and to the entire pro-immigration community (including this lawyer) and know IV will now be a critical part of future advocacy efforts. I'm looking forward to seeing the organization grow in size and influence.

Some countries require transit visa like UK for even changing flight but going through Germany do not require such a visa for EAD holders, you should contact the local consulate for B-1 holders.

Naming post offices, designating and recognizing festivals, naming courthouses and writing checks to run the government.
1. Immigration Reform: cant do.
2. Ending the war : cant do.
3. Reducing healthcare costs, reforming healthcare: cant do.
4. Upcoming social security deficit : cant do.
5. Budget deficits reduction : cant do.
Next week, senate is going to do following things:
1. Pass a resolution stating that it is the sense of the senate that sky is usually blue in color but on cloudier days, it tends to be green.
2. Pass a resolution that water is wet and fire is hot.
3. Pass a resolution that the building of Capitol is White is color, December is the last month of the year and the White House is also white in color.
4. Take a break, eat peanut-butter and jelly sandwich, play in swings outside the senate building and then take a little afternoon nap. A little fight between Democrats and Republicans on getting equal time on swings and equal time with possession of soccer ball and baseball bat.

It is a very sad story. We people who have legal status feel very very lucky after reading his story. We can only imagine what this poor kid was going tough mentally. He did not have the right to education in college, could not drive and could not pursue his interests. He could not even go back to his country because he did not know anything else other than USA.
These kids deserve a better life than constantly living a life of fear and hopelessness.

Thought you might interested in my case status. I have visited chennai consulate and my case was approved without any questions raised. They did not even asked any documents for verification. All I submitted were DS 156, DS 157 AND I797. I am glad to share my experience. Thanks for offering suggestions and sharing your experience. :D

Online information say Indian passport renewal takes around 10 - 15 days but it is usually done much quicker. I received my passport in less than 2 weeks(7 business days if i remember correctly) from Chicago, offcourse i mailed all documents.

What will happen to people who already made the move hoping to preserve their priority date from previous employer? Isn't this unfair to these folks. Do you think they may be exempt from this? I wish at least.

webm: what is the status of your application ( 485), is your NC, SC or fingurprints all clear. Did you speak to any IO about any update on your case as your PD is current ( 01 Oct).
No i didn't speak to any IO..but FP cleared means the one we go for fingure printing isn't it??
My PD is not current yet..just missed with one day lag..
Cutoff date Oct'01 means they can/will only process apps whose PD's falls On/before Sep31st..

That has happened to me too. It's ok. I looked at the reciept notice and the date is the original reciept date not the one mentioned in update. Don't worry. If you are really concerned call your lawyer.

This is equivalent to $155,000/year. Indian companies like to report CTC (cost to company/compensation) rather than gross salary. So $155k CTC doesnot sound out of normal range salary ($90K gross +relocation+1 time sign-on+benefits (401k,medical, dental, bonus etc)) for someone working for a big tech firm in California.

Then, the real thing begins. Debate , amendments and the final voting followed by reconcillation between the two houses.
Even if the bill pass "as it is" we will be in MUCH BETTER POSITION " then what we are in today.
After all, the effective green cards are increased to 725K per year , along with recapture provisions and exemption for people with certain master degree.

Yes this is discussion forum but we have Job to get it done through our members. if members doesn't help us financially then we are loosing our edge. Nothing is free here (America), all actions are cost associated with it just calling senator or writing letter is just part of action.we need to convince our fellow member to contribute financially like donating money for good cause.Thanks
I agree with you that IV needs money for the good cause and it has to come from donations. All I am saying is if someone like me who is on H1B and can't fill the profile wants to reply to someone's query then IV should not be charging me for that because I have no dates in my profile. Money has to be generated but not at the cost of popularity of IV and defeating the purpose of IV as a common platform for all legal immigrants.
